Water Tower Improvements Project
Project Introduction -
This project involves construction of two - 1.0 million gallon elevated storage tanks, two water pumping booster stations, three pressure reducing valves, two isolation valves and approximately 1,300 feet of looping water main to serve the Lake Michigan Shoreline Water & Sewage Treatment Authority (Authority) service area. Authority members include the Townships of Lincoln, Royalton, and St. Joseph, and the Villages of Shoreham and Stevensville, all of whom receive water from the City of St. Joseph (City) water treatment facility. This project fulfills the obligations of the 2003 Water Service Agreement between the City and Authority to place at least one adequately sized water tower within the Authority service area.
As with most public infrastructure projects, installation of the much needed improvements may create temporary service disruptions and traffic inconveniences. To help plan for and minimize these construction related issues, the following map shows approximate locations of the proposed improvements. For more detailed maps of the work zone and service disruption areas, click on the yellow square for each respective area. Please note that most inconveniences will be realized on the looping water main and valve portions of the project since these will be installed in road right-of-ways. Tank and booster station improvements will be constructed on property owned by the Authority and will create mostly localized and isolated construction related issues.
