Hays Park & Mill Creek Park Watervliet, MI

The project was funded through the Great Lakes Commission’s Great Lakes Basin Program.
  • The improvements included a new multi-diamond baseball complex with a concession stand and play structure along the Paw Paw River. The new diamonds are different sizes to accommodate different ages and skill levels. This project was funded by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).
  • A specially engineered porous parking area allows stormwater to percolate through while maintaining surface load strength. Using a system of high-impact geotextile blocks, aggregate, soil, and turf grass, the porous pavement will also help prevent puddles and ruts because stormwater will not normally pool on the surface.
  • Rain gardens were also constructed adjacent to the porous parking lot.
  • A skate park and a canoe launch/fishing pier on the Paw Paw River are in process.
