Lake Street Streetscape, Bridgman, MI

The project required multiple utility relocations and burials to extend the City’s progress on buried facilities throughout the Lake Street corridor. |
- Project included 0.6 miles of roadway and streetscape improvements
including HMA milling and resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, ADA sidewalk ramps, fire hydrant replacements, decorative stamped concrete sidewalks, LED street lighting,
decorative benches, planters and trash receptacles, stamped concrete crosswalks, LED
traffic signals with full span mast arm structure, plantings and elaborate block planters.
- In order to develop a plan that was consistent with community goals, numerous stakeholder engagements were required. Meetings were held in a variety of ways, including as part of the regularly scheduled council meetings, special meetings specifically intended for this project, and also on-site meetings with the respective property owners to review full scale layouts of the proposed planters and locations.

Downtown Streetscape Three Oaks, MI 
Road reconstruction project with watermain
replacement. |
- Removed and replaced roadway and upgraded the sidewalk and curb
and gutter at the intersections to make them barrier free.
- The Village also added to this project a Sidewalk Enhancement project
which was funded by the MEDC. This project consists of sidewalk
improvements with colored stamped concrete, colored stamped crosswalks,
nostalgia style street lights, trees and tree grates, kiosk, benches,
trash receptacles and new water fountains.
- WAI also added parking lot improvements that consist of paving and
nostalgia-style street lights.

Downtown Streetscape Buchanan, MI

Areas is now more pedestrian friendly with creative community areas. |
- Removed old sidewalks and replaced with new brick pavers and
sidewalk, installed new antique-style street lamps, new benches, drinking
fountains, and bike racks, and landscape with new trees.
- The street lamps hold hanging flower baskets with drip
irrigation.
- New on- and off-street parking was also provided.
- McCoy Creek was released from an underground culvert to a landscaped
stream bed.
- The design also included the release of McCoy Creek from an underground
culvert to a landscaped streambed. It now is a calming focal
point in the downtown area.
- This project was funded in part by a matching-funds grant from Michigan.

Downtown Streetscape Stevensville, MI

Multiphase redevelopment |
- Installed a four faced, freestanding clock tower, brick pavers, new
sidewalk, brick crosswalks, and 2000 new feet of new roadway with
concrete curb and gutter.
- The street lamps hold are antique style.
- This project was funded in part by a matching-funds grant from the
MDEQ.

Village of Baroda Streetscape Project
barostreetscape_webrda WAI provided design (2010) and construction engineering (2011)
for the First Street Streetscape project from Church Street to Lemon Creek Road. The
project is approximately 1,300’ long and includes decorative LED lighting with turn of the century style poles, new concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer modifications, HMA
resurfacing, decorative concrete crosswalks, decorative stamped sidewalks, ADA ramps, minor water main improvements, and irrigation for new trees and hanging baskets.
Our services include design engineering, topographic survey, grant assistance, landscape architecture, bid assistance and recommendation. Services in 2011 will include contract
administration, payroll verification, construction staking, site representation,
